CNC Machining FAQ

What Are The Uses Of CNC Machining?
CNC machining is utilized in creating machine parts, serving both for prototype development and preparation for mass production. As a highly favored method in custom manufacturing, it adeptly manages the complex shapes of intricate parts. Moreover, it's employed for the mass production of parts once a prototype has received approval.
What File Formats Should I Sent For CNC Machining?
We accommodate a range of file formats to consistently meet our clients' needs, including widely used formats such as .stp, .step, and .psm/.par. Furthermore, we commit to collaborating closely with our clients throughout the process to ensure their final product is designed with absolute precision. This commitment to excellence is a core value of ours.
What Types Of Equipment Do You Have At Your Facility?
At TOPS, our equipment includes 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling, along with 5-axis CNC milling services, each offering outstanding outcomes. For projects requiring the highest quality and precision, we recommend our 5-axis CNC milling service over the 3-axis or 4-axis options. Additionally, our CNC turning service employs a range of tools and cutting-edge software, guaranteeing the production of your components with unparalleled accuracy and precision.
Why Should I Choose CNC Machining For Manufacturing?
CNC machining provides numerous advantages, encompassing accuracy, precision, quick turnaround times, a wide range of solutions, compatibility with various materials, and cost-effectiveness compared to other available options in the market.
What Factors Influence The Price Of CNC Machined Parts?
The price of a CNC machined part is influenced by four main factors: 1) the time needed for machining, 2) the material chosen, 3) the part's geometry, and 4) the project's initial setup cost. Beyond the specific requirements provided by the client, we aim to adopt strategies that minimize costs without sacrificing the product's quality. Die Casting FAQ

How Can I Get A Quote?
To request a quote, you can email us at info@tops-precision.com, providing details about your project such as the material needed, quantity of parts, desired finishes, and any 2D/3D master files you have. Once we receive this information, we will promptly send you a quote.
Can I Expect To Receive Die-Cast Parts That Are Completely Free From Porosity Defects?
While achieving 100% porosity-free die-cast parts is a goal, it's important to note that completely eliminating porosity can be extremely challenging due to the inherent nature of the die casting process. However, through advanced techniques and quality control measures, we'll try to localize the porisity in non-crtitcal area.
What Surface Coating Options Are Available For Aluminum Die Castings?
Nearly all of the surface finishes we offer are suitable for aluminum die castings, including plating, painting, e-coating, anodizing, and chemical film treatments.
Why Do You Require 2D Drawings If I Provide You With A 3D CAD (STEP) File?
3D CAD files are useful, but they often lack information on tolerances or specific instructions related to the part, which is why 2D drawings are necessary.
What Materials Are Available At TOPS?
TOPS provides die cast alloys in zinc, aluminum and magnesium.
