        A Childhood Sketch Rekindled After Decades

        Our client started the project with a sketch from the 1990s, which he had preserved in its original state. The engineer envisioned a chess set made from solid aluminum with geometric shapes and mechanical design elements, which he had first sketched as a child. The project remained unfinished.

        The pandemic lockdown became the turning point that changed everything. Time slowed, and old ideas resurfaced. The client contacted TOPS with his sketch to bring his long-abandoned project to life, although he doubted his ability to achieve it after three decades.

        Turning Hand Drawings into Precise CNC Machined Chess Parts

        En primer lugar, we convert a hand-drawn sketch into an exact digital format (CAD model). Our Engineers worked with the client to create exact 3D CAD models through which they accurately represented all design elements.

        The client required exact precision in his design because he needed ±0.01mm tolerance for critical elements such as the king’s crown and pawns’ bases to achieve a perfect fit and balance.
